Put the practical information first
Visitors should not need to hunt for the menu, opening hours, address or booking route. Make those clear without losing the atmosphere that makes the business distinctive.
If you have different kitchen and venue hours, explain them. Keep holiday changes current and consistent with your Google Business Profile. Add useful visiting information you can verify, such as the entrance or booking policy, rather than vague promises about convenience.
Make the menu readable on a phone
A clear text menu is easier to read and update than a blurry photograph. If you also offer a downloadable menu, keep its version and prices aligned with the visible page. Test it on a small screen, not only on the computer where it was designed.
Have the food business approve all item descriptions, prices and relevant dietary or allergen information. Do not let a designer guess. Provide a clear route to ask the business about specific requirements.
Use your own food and atmosphere
Good photos should reflect what a customer can actually expect. Show the product, the venue and the character of the business. Avoid stock images that imply a dish, room or service you do not offer.
Skipton Cheese Stall is a real MadeReal food-business project. It is in Skipton, North Yorkshire; MadeReal is based in Colne, Lancashire. Its website is useful as a design example, not as proof of an unmeasured sales increase.
A booking link is not a booking system
If you already use a reservation or ordering provider, the website can direct people to it clearly. Check the link, the mobile experience and what the customer sees after completing it.
Building a new ordering system, taking payments or managing delivery requires separate decisions about software, fees and ongoing responsibility. Those features are not automatically included in a simple brochure website plan. Agree the scope before purchase.
Keep updates manageable
Decide who changes menus, hours and seasonal information. Give that person a simple process and keep a record of what was approved. A visually impressive menu becomes unhelpful when last month’s prices remain live.
Check that all contact routes reach someone who can respond. If a form is only an enquiry, do not label its confirmation as a table booking. If a reservation depends on staff approval, say so.
Connect the profile and website
Your Google profile should link to the correct website and relevant booking destination where available. Use consistent business details and real photos. Read the Google profile and website guide for more about the click-to-enquiry journey.
MadeReal builds food and hospitality websites around the business itself. Start with a free homepage preview; we confirm the website scope and any specialist system costs before you decide to go ahead.
